Birdwatching in Little Monfragüe
Little Monfragüe is the name that local birders of Albacete province give to Site of Community Importance Sierra del Relumbrar, a natural area of mediterranean forest belonging to Natura 2000 Network. As its extremaduran "big brother" the landscape is quite similar, with the presence of quartzite mountains, "dehesas" and areas of Mediterranean scrub. As in Extremadura, in the area can be observed the most wanted bird species of the mediterranean forest as the Spanish Imperial Eagle, Cinereous Vulture, Griffon Vulture, Blue-winged magpie, Sardinian Warbler, Golden Eagle.
Due to the large quantity and quality of habitat available, is the best area for the conservation of the Iberian Lynx in Castilla-La Mancha. Some of the individuals of Iberian Lynx released the last year thanks to EU Life Project Iberlince have been observed in that area.
