Great Bustard is the largest flying bird in the world. Join us and come to see that species in SPA of San Clemente (Cuenca), an international important bird area for birds near and well communicated by car from some main cities in Spain as Madrid, Valencia and Alicante.

In the area can be observed the most wanted bird species of the steppe land habitats as the Great Bustard, Little Bustard, Calandra Lark, Thekla Lark, Crested Lark, Eurasian Roller, Little Owl, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Pin-tailed Sandgrouse Lesser Kestrel.

This area belongs to Castilla-La Mancha Region and is close to the largest vinyard in the world. In our trips we can combine the observation of steppe land birds with visits to wineries, where our clients can try the excelent wine and cheese of our region, the region of Don Quixote de La Mancha!

 

Description:

 

One full day trip for the observation of the most wanted bird species of mediterranean forest in one of the most wildest and beautiful corners of Castilla-La Mancha region.

The service includes transportation in a five seat Mercedes Vito van and optics equipment.

The excursions will be guided by experienced AMBIENTEA guides with the advice and permits of Castilla-La Mancha Environment Department and rangers.

Daily program:

 

08:00 We will pick up our clients at Albacete Train Station or at your hotel.

09:00 Arrival to the Special Protection Area for Birds of San Clemente.

09:15 We will position ourselves at strategic points, moving around the SPA, always drawing on our local knowledge and experience. Of course our aim is to view these sensitive animals from vantage points where they do not feel disturbed or threatened.

10:30 Lunch break on the field

11:30 We will visit some of the Great Bustard Leks and colonies of Lesser Kestrel.

13:30-14:00 We will visit  one of the wineries of San Clemente where clients can try and buy cheese and wine.  Later we will stop to have lunch in a local restaurant of the area where you will have the chance of try local food and wines.

15:30-16:00 After lunch we will visit other natural spaces of the area as "Torcas de Sisante", a geological formation with rock cliffs where we can see other kind of bird species as Eagle Owl, Blue-rock Thrush, Sardinian Warbler, Crag Martin, golden eagle.

17:00 We will start back to Albacete or your accommodation.

19:00 Arrival to Albacete
